Looking out of nature’s window can reveal things you just don’t expect. Those surprises can make you smile, cry, or gasp, and everything in between. This surprise was an example of fortitude. The definition of fortitude is having strong will in the face of danger or pain. What do you think?
”A spider’s web is stronger than it looks. Although it is made of thin, delicate strands, the web is not easily broken.” -EB White, Charlotte’s Web
My house sits on 2 acres of land. Once upon a time ago, the farmer who owned my property also farmed the land next to us. We enjoyed fields of corn, wheat, and soybeans for many years. Good friends and neighbors own 11 acres of woods behind us. I have spent much time walking and exploring these woods.

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”
― Eleanor Roosevelt
I’ve lived my entire life in the same general area I do now. As a child, a bald eagle flying through the sky or perched in a tree above the river was just not a part of my rural landscape as it is today. My kindergarten, first, and second graders are growing up with the bald eagle as part of their landscape thanks to the conservation efforts of the Endangered and Non-game Species Program in New Jersey.

Nature can be awe inspiring and beautiful. Watching a powerful bald eagle gently offer food to a newly hatched chick is amazing. Cheering awkward chicks walking on wobbly legs, and holding your breath when they take that first flight are the events live cam viewers look forward to year after year.
